I drink about 10 glasses of water a day and eat small meals every few hours. I brush and floss before I leave for work.

I find after 8 hours of work, my teeth feel like they've got a thin layer of plaque on them.

Is this normal?
Also, my preference is not to take a toothbrush into the work environment, so is there another more subtle way of removing this film off of my teeth?

Try Xylitol based chewing gums (biotene, Spry). This natural, birch sugar (Xylitol) will prevent your mouth from drying and film to form. It will also starve the bacteria in your mouth and kill them. These gums are available in Walgreen.

JACK,
AFTER YOU BRUSH THE FORMATION OF A THIN LAYER OF PLAQUE BEGINS AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE LONGER THE PERIOD BETWEEN BRUSHING, THE HEAVIER (THICKER) THE LAYER.
THERE IS A FINGER-TOOTHBRUSH CLOTH AVAILABLE IN SOME PHARMACIES WITH WHICH YOU CAN SPOT-BRUSH WHILE AT WORK AND AWAY FROM A BATHROOM OR SINK.

Yes, it's normal to sometimes feel plaque on your teeth after a number of hours. I personally found that chewing those "whitening" gums (I like Dentyne Ice) help in eliminating build up.

Try gum or you could maybe try some of those little finger brushes that you just throw right away. Those are good for just getting that off.
