As a teacher, I can tell you this varies. Early on, you need to teach them the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have done unto you. As they get older, you need to impart morals so that they understand why rules are put in place and why they should follow said rules. After imparting morals, you need to teach them how to make good decisions. Once a child can start making good sound decisions, then you as a parent, have nothing left to worry about.

Respect.

It's something a lot of children lack. They don't respect each other, themselves, elders, their property or the property of others. Teaching this to them at a young age will help them gain other good character traits as they age and mature. As young women and men they really need to respect themselves to know that they shouldn't harm their bodies with alcohol and drugs and to know they are awesome no matter what.

The best lesson you can teach a child is curiousity, for once a child has curiousity, and is encouraged to be curious, then he or she can be very motivated throughout the rest of his or her life to learn and will be very a successful person.

if you don't understand something to ask questions and to keep an open mind.

also, to be humble for what you have, and not what you want.

another, is that life meets no one halfway, if you want something you have to work for it 110%.

people love a good personality, and if you can make people happy, smile, and laugh, and show you can be counted on, you will get far in life.
