Chihuahuas never roamed the earth in packs as wild dogs. They were bred down in size from their larger, wilder, cousins/brothers to the current diminutive beasts they are today.

There also were never packs of Rottweilers, Blood Hounds, Bichon Frises, etc., roaming the earth. Humans selected distinct personalities, hair lengths, colors, sizes, guard/herd/hunting abilities, and so on, and bred specific dogs for these traits.

If you are currently being attacked by a 'wild pack of Pugs'...you can only thank God it isn't a pack of Komondors!

When dogs were wild, they were wolves. The more different a breed of dog is compared to a wolf, the more selective breeding that kind of dog will have undergone. Chihuahuas, I'm assuming, were not bred as a defense or fighting type dog. They were probably prized as companions for the wealthy, like French bissons were.

actually chihuahuas were found roaming the earth. A small pack was found in Chihuahua, Mexico and was said to be a descendant from a now extinct breed.

Pugs were bred lap dogs....lol

Many people suspect dogs came from wolves but there is thought that dogs actually came from wild dogs that looked more like the Australian Dingos and that wolves came from an ancestor of the dingos and dogs. or if you believe in God as creator, the wild dog that probably looked like a dingo type wild dog and the wolf both hung out with Adam and Eve. :)

well since most of them are still meaner than hell i'm going to assume they are not domesticated and in fact are the ones in control. as for the pugs, i would lead them into a wild pack of chihuahua's and watch the turf war go. as for dog's being descendats of dingo's. ummm dingo's are distintive to australia and well i'm not sure dingo's built boats and sailed to other nations before man domesticated them. although they are very smart as you can see by the dogs that are known descendants of them, so i could be completely off on this. i'm with chihuahua's killing the dinosaurs!

Actually you can still find packs of Chihuahuas roaming free in Mexico.
I work cases of animal cruelty, and some of them are related to puppy mills. I know personally of puppy millers who travels to Mexico to catch them, and bring them back by the load.

Chihuahuas were food animals of the Aztecs and perhaps the Toltecs. Just like guinea pigs were eaten by Incas. MMMMmmm....toastie!

I have a Chihuahua, I think they are some kind of a mutation from back in the time of the Incas in South American.
