It's the other way around backwards. Common sense would be to use your own and realize that there is no camparison. What is more accurate a painting or a mirror? Put a magnifying glass up to a mirror then put one up to a photograph. What do you think?

I don't quite understand your question. Are you asking about single lens relex cameras that use mirrors in comparison to point and shoots?

edit: okay, now that you answered my question, here is my new answer:

a mirror is better.

The reason is that a camera cannot capture an image the same as the human eye. Have you ever tried to take a picture in a low light situation without the flash? The camera has problems seeing what you see. But if you were to look in a mirror in the same low-light, you would see yourself just fine. Human eyes constantly adapt to different lighting conditions whereas cameras aren't smart enough. Even when a camera is adjusted with manual controls to capture an image it cannot do it as well as the human eye can see it.

mirrors all the way

A mirror will show you every detail about yourself, especially if it's been lighted properly.

BUT, your appearance in a mirror is the reverse of what others see when they look at you.

A camera, especially a very expensive and well-made camera in the hands of a skilled photographer, can take an incredibly detailed picture of you. And it will show you exactly how you appear to others.

BUT, you will never be able to capture the tiniest of details with a camera.

So the accuracy of the image you see depends on your perspective. Both can be utterly free of error, both can convey the truth of your appearance. But one, while more detailed, will always be reversed, while the other will show you how others perceive you (on a purely visual level) but will always be less detailed.

I say mirrors have a much higher resolution than any digital camera. Probably the same as a quality film camera.

the greatest way to capture an image is with our eyes, and keep it in out minds forever. it doesnt change or fade that way!
