People generally lie because they are already caught up in the circle of deceit. What that means is, if you have already lied so many times that you can't keep your story straight, then you lie to get out of the trouble caused by the initial lies.
If you are really serious about being an honest person, you have to accept that people may not believe you for a long time until you can prove to them that you are truly making a change.
Being honest with others is noble. It makes you feel clean and worthy of other's praise. I think it's awesome that you are asking for help, and I'm sorry that the others answering this have basically treated you poorly...but lying can make some people really angry.
Try to think of someone that you really respect, and when you go to tell a lie, imagine them watching you and knowing that your lying, and how deeply disappointed they would be in your behavior.
Good luck, and just take some time to remember that honesty is always the best policy, even if it hurts at times.

Well, you have taken your first step in realizing people don't like liars. Next time you talk take a concious second to make sure you tell the truth when you speak. If lieing is second nature you need to give yourself pause before you talk so what you say comes out right.

ditch him, too many fish in the sea to stick with a liar and cheater. in spite of if the lies are small, it wont end there. It purely gets worst. As for cheating.. unfortionetly the asserting holds in general genuine.. "as quickly as a cheater consistently a cheater" Lies and cheating has a tendency to fall back on upbringing and correctly to alter upbringing is fairly complicated to do. loads of counseling and many sufferers, and then the have confidence is long previous.. you will not at all be able to completely have confidence him. speaking from quite a few relationships i've got been in while lies and cheating have been in touch. Been engaged two times.. and correctly I even have given the two them many possibilities and that they continued to fall back into the old procedures. Sorry to be the bringer of undesirable information. Goodluck, there is somebody else available which will manage you best! such as you deserve im useful!

You mean compulsive liar. Just stop lying. Lying is a choice and it can be controlled; you lie simply because you want to and you can get away with it. Try being the best person you can be, and be honest.

Unless you're lying now...seek help. Remember "The boy who cried Wolf"? All little lies are big lies...in other words, don't continue on that path. Come clean as soon as possible. That should be the easiest hurdle, if you really want to be liked.

I wonder if you have low self-esteem and if that is the reason you lie. It is good that you realize this fault and want to take steps to correct it. Have you considered counselling?

One day it is really going to burn you. Then you'll learn.
P.S. Don't lie to the cops, or they'll send to jail for a long long time.
