Hi. As a Martial arts Instructor for over 12 years I can tell you that there is no definitive answer to that. Many factors will dictate how much and how well you can perform certain exercises related to the Martial Arts. As you progress in the martial Arts training you will be able to perform a higher number of exercises. Not only that, the quality, dexterity, beauty, effectiveness of those exercises will improve too. What you need is a good instructor that guides you and pushes you to be the best you can be. A true instructor will be a mentor. Not only for your physical skills but for you spiritual growth as well.

Remember, the martial arts is a journey, not a destination. The goal in Martial arts is to achieve perfection both in body and spirit. but you will never achieve perfection. What i mean is, Martial Arts is a way of life, something some of us decide to make the the guiding force in our life's. You will never stop learning and you will never achieve perfection, making your road in the martial arts and endless journey. that is the beauty of the martial Arts. So work hard, be patient, and never give up.
Good luck in your Journey.

It depends on what you mean by great Martial Artist. Doing dozens or even hundreds of kicks & punches a day will certainly improve your physical skills, which are of course necessary, but to be a true Martial Artist you must include study& meditation as well.

your body will be the first part to hone. get to your lean weight, run, lift weights, get stronger. research what style you like/ are interested in.

few go beyond what their body can endure, that and being the best at a good form is greatness in the martial arts.
