The guy ahead of me said the age of the world was determined by tracing the lineage line of Jesus. If this is so then the world could be eternally old because, according to the theory of the Trinity, God and Jesus were one with the Holy Spirit and existed before time together, as one God forever. Now I know this is confusing since the Holy Spirit humped Mary and the Angel of the Lord told Joseph i na dream that...this is getting really stupid.
Let's just say the Easter Bunny came to each of us in a dream and told us through personal Revelation directly from god.

Genesis 1:1 God created the earth.

Isaiah 45:18..God created the earth to be inhabited.

Genesis 1:2 God destroyed the earth.

Jere.4:4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
4:24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
4:25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
4:26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

Look at riverbanks thru out the world..you will see evidence of the earth's age.

Genesis 1:3 God begins to re-create the earth.

Fossils and the earth itself proves its age..as well the Bible.

It doesn't but you cannot rely completely by the bible. It is the most accurate source of god's message to us from Jesus but was written long after Jesus. Plus you cannot assure that Jesus tells us every thing and nobody can assure if a few days to god or heaven is billions of years to us.

Sorry if this was blastfamous and I do try to be the best Christian I can be but I still try to be reasonable and acknowledge that the bible is not always and could be tweaked by the people who wrote it after Jesus accented to heaven and people could have tempered with it even after the original version was produced.

I don't think the Bible actually says how old the Earth is. The age of the Earth was inferred by theologians from the text, particularly the number of generations listed from the time of Adam and Eve.

The Bible doesn't really tell how old the world it is. The approximate age of 6,000 years most Christians believe in was reached in tracing the lineage of the line of Jesus. If you know all the ages of all people that came before Jesus, you could add up. Most scholars will say that Adam and Eve existed about 4,000-5,000 years before Christ.

The people who wrote the bible couldn't think in terms of billions.
