recently I played golf for the first time at a local course. I have actually played golf before but I am left handed but had to play right handed. I played left hand and shot 70 on a 18 hole course.My first drive was stright down the middle of the green for 250yards.So for the first time am I overeacting ? Or should I try this golf thing a little more. Any advice would be great.

Well if you did, good for you! The problem with golf is that consistency is the hardest thing to obtain! Today a 70, tomorrow a totally different story!

I think you're full of crap or maybe you don't know how to count. I've never heard of a 250 yard hole! Too short for a par 4 and too long for a par 3. Golf is a game of touch - especially on and around the greens.
Even if you can smack the ball 250 yards dead straight consistently, its inconceivable that on your first time out you would have the touch and feel to putt and chip well enough to get a 70. I'm sure neither Nicklaus or Woods shot anywhere near a 70 until they had played dozens - or hundreds of rounds.
So again, I think you are either full of crap, you didn't count right, you game yourself all putts under 10 feet, you took a bunch of mulligans, or you played a short par-3 course.
Sorry - don't believe you.

Well everybody shoots 70 their first time out, however most dont stop there , they continue on untill they finish the round and card their 150.
Anyway I would guess that was a par 3 course you shot and that still wasnt bad , only 16 over par.
Keep it up there and when you can shoot 40 or so there then give it some thought.

no i wouldnt...you just need to stay on the imaginary tour inside your head...any course that has a 250 yard par 4 is one terrible course that i could probably shoot about 20 under at....and it would be no accomplishment....shut up before you keep embarrassing yourself.
