I was contacted by my cousins daughter who was given up for adoption and is now an adult. She is looking for her parents. Her mother was my 1st cousin and she has contacted me online. The sad thing is both of her parents have died and they died very young.
Who should i ask to tell her the news her grandma she never met or should i? How do i tell someone something this aweful? Or should i let someone else?

She was given up at birth noone in our family ever got to me her yet but maybe someday we will. I hope she wants to meet us and not just her parents. I feel really sad for her. Her mom died at 19 and dad at 20. It is rare things like this happen but they do i guess..

I think it should come from you.She will appreciate and respect you for being honest. You are also the perfect one to introduce her to all of her other family she has never met. Each one of you might be able to shed some light on how great her parents were. It can also start a great connection for you to.All any adopted child wants to know is that they were loved thought about and wanted. You seem like the best person to help her with that.

It's best to tell her the truth, but say it nicely but before that, tell her not to get angry or sad and just be calm. Make sure that she also is in a good mood and isn't agitated or hurt about any other thing before letting her know about it. Do not hide the truth also, because sooner or later she'll eventually find out.

Her coming to you was probably a big step for her if you have not been close until now. I would say if you have the information she is seeking, you should meet with her if that is possible and provide her with the information she is seeking. Perhaps if their death was caused by an auto accident you could find an article about it for her. Without a doubt it will be painful news to share with her but perhaps it will provide her with some closure

Don't turn your face away from her.She contacted you,you help her.Don't add another rejection on her list.I am sure she can handle it.Take her out, somewhere quiet and tell her.If there is any medical issues, let her know.Tell her everything, tell her the truth.Good or bad she deserves to know, she deserves some closure in her life. She has an emptiness in her hart, fill it out for her.

She has the right to know. If you can't do the job, get a counciler to do it for you.
