sounds like you are leaving the creator, Because of religion. You have to follow your spirit. If you are a christian find a different Church. But don't leave God, Jesus died for you . Sin is going to go on. Talk to a Catholic or Lutheran. But don't give up on the Lord because of Man.

I honestly don't think my mother is against gay marriage... she's a Christian. See, there are different areas of Christianity. Some are for Intelligent Design. Some are for Creationism and Evolution. Some believe in the Bible literally only, some symbolically only and some even yet with a mix of those two.
Crazy isn't it? Christians disagree even amongst themselves. I stay out of all of it - Christianity and all other theistic religions have zero evidence of their claims so why bother?
BTW: I'm an atheist.

There is no one true religion, and no religion that fits everyone; each person has to find their own path. If you are confused about whether or not you should be a Christian, check out http://www.ex-christian.net/index.php? You’ll find out why so many people leave it. What you are going to is perfectly normal and many people have gone through it as well. You are not alone. It's very supportive.
If you are interested in Paganism, check out http://www.mysticwicks.com there you can post any question you have and find out about all the different pagan and heathen religions. It’s also a very good place do research and the people there are very friendly.
One of the other posters, Eldad9, proved some excellent links in regards to Atheism, which is also a valid choice that you should consider. You don't need a religion to be a good person.
You are obviously smart, only smart people question accepted ‘truths’. My advice is to read more information about other religions and check out Ex-Christian.net. Myself, I’m an Ásatrúar (Norse Pagan). I wish you the best of luck and NEVER stop questioning your beliefs. Always keep thinking for yourself and don't take any belief for granted. Good luck!
To the poster named Sarah, no, not every religion thinks they have the one true path, my own religion Ásatrú does not teach that it’s the only truth and that all people must believe the way we do. There are plenty of religions (mostly Pagan, some Eastern) that believe there are many paths and there is no equivalent to the Christian hell. In fact, the idea of punishing people for not believing in their god by burning in hell for all eternity is unique to Christianity.

You should do some research.... Don't let a stranger give you advice on such a major decision that will have an impact on your life.
But listen.... everyone has free will and so if two gays get married then it was their decision. I don't agree with the same sex being together as couples or being married. Why? Because we were put on this earth to multiply and you can't do this with the same sex. Do you understand? Also, gay marriage to me sends a message to children that they have a choice to be straight or gay. But I think you may be too young to understand all this. It's good to have respect and to have compassion for others, but there is right and wrong. You don't have to be Christian, but don't stop believing in God because he does exist and he loves you. The 2 religions you mentioned above I do believe would be going completely against Christ. Just make sure that whatever religion you get into that you really know what you're getting into.
God Bless.

You should choose the religion that feels right for you. Not what your parents or friends tell you you should be. Your mother is aggressively forcing Christianity onto you, and that almost always leads people away from the religion. Christianity should still be an option for you. Bottom line is you have to find this answer yourself.

I try to stay away from religions. I just believe in an after life, and respecting and excepting everyone (as long as they don't harm others). By doing that, you can't go wrong. I don't discriminate against any religion though, as long as they don't harm anyone. Maybe you should just be the best person you can be. If you can do that by just being spiritual and not joining a religion, then by all means do it.

First off all *hugs*. Nothing wrong with questioning the religion you grew up with. It's up to you to pick the one you feel most comfortable with and there is no one true religion. Some of the others gave you some real good links, I also recommend http://www.Ex-Christian.net as it's a good place to go.

religion is not faith. You can be any religion and have faith in things not considered "correct" by that specific religion. But religion is what I would say is the General direction of your faith, but you have to determine what you believe is correct an what isn't.
Don't let you mother force you to believe something you don't, and don't let her heavy-handed tactics drive you away from what you do believe in simply because of personal faith differences.
You don't have to CHOOSE a religion. I classify myself as Christian, but have studied many other forms of religions. I am able to be comfortable in various churches and religious environments, because I determined that my faith is mine and not something someone else can define for me.
First decide what you personally believe, then seek out those who closely follow your beliefs. Even then you will find those who may have different faiths of right and wrong, but you know what you believe, this won't harm you. You can respect their belief and should expect them to respect yours. Truly faithful individual won't FORCE you to adopt their understanding, as long as your core beliefs are similar.

Well, if you do need a religion in your life, and you're comfortable with Christianity but disagree with some of the "moral" teachings, perhaps you should looking into Unitarian Universalism.
