Why not?? Go for it. Save the money that you would have spend and put it on the honeymoon.

I don't see how that even matters. The outcome of your marriage has nothing to do with the dress that you wear on your wedding day! I have a second-hand wedding dress that i have every intention of wearing at my wedding, as long as i can fit into it again. I got mine for onyl twenty dollars at a Goodwill, and it is in perfect condition. There is nothing wrong with this. It's the same thing as if you were going to wear your mom's wedding dress, would you think twice about that if it was gorgeous? In the end, it's your decision, but a Wedding is such an expensive thing to plan, that why shouldn't you save a little on the dress? There's no point on spending $10,000 on a dress that you're only going to wear it once, when you can spend $100 on a dress that someone else paid the big bucks for and only wore it once. Good Luck!

My favorite story about a wedding dress is my grandmothers. Her dress was used for three weddings all closely related her sisters and a cousin. Now the kicker all 3 marriages have lasted 50+ years. The dress is still in the attic waiting to see if any of the great grandchildren will chose to be number four go for it! I don't think it would be bad luck to wear one that someone who got divorced wore because it would be the something old so the other somethings would get rid of any bad luck you may believe in!

Hi Smart lady! It's very good to recycle and with wedding gowns are no different. I got mine at a consignment store and my gown $35, was used but beautiful. My marriage now has lasted 24 yrs. so it didn't hurt me and it gives you some extra money to use on your honeymoon. If a marriage had failed in the past, it wasn't the gown's fault. Good luck!

Unless it was a hand-me down from the family no way would I wear a second hand dress.. It has nothing to do with money-all about superstitions. If a dress is second hand all I can think of is her unhappiness, what caused her to give up the dress of her dreams? Just like used jewelry that is not from the family,I just feel the sadness of the possible story behind it.

Old stories, its up to you on how to make the marriage work. I coordinate weddings so basically it depends already on how to couple works out their marriage. I see a lot of extravagant weddings only going down the drain. The gown is not even the cause... get what I mean?

I wore my friend wedding dress and i was perfectly comfortable with it. It is not the dress that makes the event. The bonus side is that i didnt have to WASTE hundreds of dollars on a dress i will never wear again. No bad luck - I have been married for 15 years and going strong.

If you love the dress, then wear it! Some people may say that it's bad luck to wear someone else's dress, but some more vintage styles aren't readily available anymore, so a "used" dress is the only way to go.
Do what feels right to you, that's the most important thing.

I think that wearing a secondhand wedding dress is a great idea, I don't think it is bad luck either, (I don't believe in bad luck) you could attach that sort of thinking with anything that has to do with a wedding. Go for it, and spend the saved money on your honeymoon. Have fun shopping.

I say if you really love a dress that's been worn before, go for it. I am not really into all those wedding superstitions anyway. The people in the marriage made it fail, not the dress.

a wedding gown is just a "thing" i believe people sometimes get carried away with things that are not important. if you find a used dress that you like, get it. it wont bring bad luck to your marriage. what happens is up to you and your husband. best wishes!
