If the account was escheated to the state, you can check with LA's state treasury, just do a search for the state's website. Most states have a lookup tool just for such accounts.

I recently typed lost money in the search line and found money I didn't know I had. After so many years of inactivity in a bank, or a bank goes out of business, the state takes control of the monies of people that have not been able to be located. Try this search and you should find this lost account. Follow the directions when you locate your name. I got a check last week for $343.68.

If your in Calif go here
http://scoweb.sco.ca.gov/UCP/

If not you might still go there as they will link you up other states AND most important it's free. I found couple of old accounts I'd forgotten about. any of the other ones you look at want money. Or just simply go to the web site of your state controller and do a search. But DO NOT pay anyone to help you get your money. The state controller WILL not charge you.

This site may help you:

If the money was put into an account under your name you should be able to easily get access to it.

Good luck.
