she needs a cell because her mom is in the hospital for a few more years so she has to walk to her grandmothers after school who is a mile away. the bus wont drive that far.

A 7 year old doesn't need a cell phone. If my sister gave my daughter a cell phone at that age, I'd shove it right up her a s s.

A seven year old with a cell phone?!?! I think the firefly is the best one until they are at least 10 years old. They really should only be calling home, or parents cell phones/ work numbers or emergency numbers. Get one of these and upgrade in a couple of years. Your niece will look forward to a new phone every 2 years and youll be the cook aunt!

If she REALLY thinks she needs a cell phone (because of older siblings or whatever) check out the "Chatnow" phones. They come in a set of 2, and they can do text, take pictures, and talk. They come in several styles and colors. You can even get cases for them. The clincher is: they aren't actually cell phones, they are like a really fancy walkie talkie, and they can use them to talk to anyone else who has a chatnow (which is why they come with 2).
Unless she is in a situation where she is in danger, she does not have any use for a cell phone at 7 years old.

I recommend one from Nokia. I had that brand and loved it. I've also had a samsung and some brand that doesn't exist anymore since then, but the Nokia was the best. It was a few years ago, though, so I don't know any specific models
Just so you know, Fireflys now are closer to real phones. I looked at one the other day that holds up to 20 phone numbers and accepts calls from whomever. I think it even had a number keypad.
Some people are really judgemental. It is up to you and your family if 7 is old enough for a phone. I wouldn't have been, but some of the kids at the daycare I work at are. These people don't know your whole situation, you do. Hope you find what you want.

i really don't see why a 7 year old needs a cell phone. is she away from home a lot and needs to call or just wants one for the heck of it. I don't understand why people have started buying their children cellphones. I could understand a 12 year old getting a cell phone, but 7 that is just pointless.

You have the right to buy your niece whatever you want... and certainly, if you want to spend that kind of money on her, more power to you, but I really don't think a cell phone is practical for a 7 year old. I think there are so many other things she enjoy so much more.
And really, why would a 7 year old need a cell phone? There is no reason that a child that age would ever not be with an adult who had a cell phone... why would they need one of their own?
And, if there is a time she is alone... that's a serious concern... focus on that problem and buy her some Barbies.

I don't know why a 7 y/o would need any other cell phone besides the disney or firefly ones., but I would suggest a prepaid phone.

a 7 year old? with a cell phone? i know people do it know a days but i got a cell for this year in 9th grade. im 14 personally ithink the disney phones would be best if you wants real phone because they are real only the have disney ringtones and stuff... razors are cheap and break easily the chocolates are not for younger kids. it depends on the service you want to get

Is there a really good reason a 7 yr old needs a cell phone? Instead give her some money for her bank account or piggy bank, buy her some clothes, take her to a movie or the zoo. Please add details to your question as to why she need a cell phone at that age.
