carry a spray bottle with you that has a mix of vinegar and water and dont get it in the eyes of the dog just near his nose so he can smell it and he will run away from you . It is a proven method works real well . good luck .

Does your community have a leash law--a law that requires all dogs to be on leashes? I have nothing against rotties but they have a reputation and are aggresive. I wouldn't advise you to hit one because they have been known to kill people and don't hit the owner because you will get sued or arrested or both. First be sure your puppy is on his leash at all times so that you can protect him. Second when you see a dog loose; it is againt the law. Call the police/dog catchers whatever. If the big dog is growling and is acting aggessive, get out of there and call from a safe place.
Best would be to explain to this person that his big and potentially dangerous dogs should be kept on a leash. If that person is letting his dog run, he knows the danger and doesn't care or understand the possible consequences.
Did you see the news article a couple of years ago where a woman came out of her apartment and into the hall? Her neighbors two rotties had gotten out and killed her before she could get back inside her door. Be careful.

The first thing to do is establish that you are the pack leader. Your dog should not pull on the leash and try to get away while you are walking it. When you walk the dog, the dog should be beside or behind you - never pulling you.

The behavior of the rottweiler is the responsibility of its owner. As long as it is reasonably behaved you should be able to calmly take control of your own dog and completely ignore the rot. By getting excited or running your empower the rot (in its mind). If the dog is seriously aggressive and tries to bite you or your puppy you should speak with the dog's owner and/or contact animal control.

The fact that your puppy is growling and trying to harm you shows it doesn't see you as the pack leader. That kind of behavior can never be tolerated. Don't hit the dog! Make a noise like shhh or just tell it stop or no loudly enough to divert its attention. Then grip its neck with your hand and force it into a submissive position until it stops the behavior. Taking walks with you in control will help a lot to establish your role as pack leader. I went through this with my dog and he is now much better behaved but still as loving and playful as ever.

I guess that if you are unable to control the leash of a puppy, you dont need to have a puppy!

Is there a different route you can take the dog on a walk??? Avoid the neighborhood with the rottweiler.
If you know the rottie's owner, and where they live, go speak to them without the dog. Present yourself politely as the owner of the puppy. Let him/her know that you are having problems with the big dogs in that neighborhood, and could they please leash their dog.
Owners should have control of their dog at all times outdoors. (not only for the safety of people, but they could run out in front of a car and get hit)
If this continues with any certain dog, report it to the police. But then again, Make sure you have your dog leashed at all times too!!

Well talk with the owner about ways that he stops his dog to do things. Sometimes it takes only a word and a body gesture to get a dog to become submissive. Also when you are in a situation where a dog is being aggresive and you do NOT need to make eye contact with the dog. By making eyecontact shows you are trying to be dominant. Also to keep the puppy out of harm's way try a harness. It is harder to slip out of and it doesn't put unnessary strain on his/her's young neck.

stay calm... you did well........the owner of the dog had full control it sounds like. animals sometimes growl when they play i don't know if the dog was growling at you or the pup. but is common play noise. never hit a dog , if your pup was growing its normal as well. if he growls at you more then he should say with a Stern voice NO and do not play with pup for a few minutes. when you do play say nice when he is being nice . again never HIT a dog or any animal. becomes a learning aggression and they learn to bite .

you extremely might want to let us know extra about what the heck those "huge issues that bypass throughout his body" are. i have in no way considered something that matches that description. i exploit an popular collar. Many use the Halti or the smooth chief, yet they don't journey your description. some use a harness or halter variety collar which does not journey your description. each of the above are wonderful. i have not considered any collar or harness that makes a canines look deformed, with "soo muc ropes on him". i can't imagine what you've considered that looks so undesirable. placed some style of collar or harness on your canines. the alternative is yours. in the journey that your canines is demanding to administration, you may want to desire a Halti or smooth chief. My canines are fifty 8#, 80 5# and one hundred and 5# and that i merely use commonplace collars, yet my canines are basic to administration and that i desire not something extra. yet - use something... do not enable the canines run loose.
