For a religious person, its a word defined by the rules imposed by their respective religions.

If we know we should do something the Lord wants us to do and we don't do it, that's sin.

If we walk contrary to the way we know the Lord wants us too, that's sin.

Where is the letter "I" in the word "sin"? it's in the center. Sin is about putting I in the center. When it should be God in the center, you push him a side and put I.
