I am not going to separate out different religion and sects, but religion as a whole, i.e., the over reliance on "faith" instead of "reason" to solve the world's problems, as well as the killing and destruction perpetrated in the name of God, Allah, or whatever.

Religion is easily the single most destructive force on earth. It divides us for no good reason and its dogma and end-of-the-world viewpoint keep us from rational choices and solving important, pressing problems that threaten the planet.

Just think of how many resources have needlessly been exhausted on the Middle East alone.

If Abrahamic religions were the really ones contained in the global, i might want to agree along with your 10. inspite of the indisputable fact that the Pagans, Wiccans and maximum Buddhists are easily a good stress and offset a number of the negativity of religion as an complete. So at the same time, i'm giving faith a 7.

You didn't define the scale, but if "1" is safe and "10" is dangerous, then I'd say about a "7". The support for scientific research and application of knowledge is being too constrained by religion. The use of condoms stops AIDS, but religion is not supporting their use, and millions are left orphaned as a result. If for no other reason (and there are plenty more), moving away from religion toward reason will aid the planet enormously.

Every war or conflict so far on this planet has been about religion. Unless we learn from our mistakes (can we teach the stupid hairless monkey) we are doomed to keep repeating it.

As shown even here, in this little forum, we cannot keep our dislike of others, or to not promote our own agenda/religion, out of a simple question. You'll always have that 2 out of 10 people who will stir s@$# up. And thats all it takes to get wars going.

Religion is a necessary evil. The bible says "God" gave humans dominion over the earth and all its creatures. Bad move! Death & destruction are inevitable with a blank check like that! But the absence of the religious threat of damnation, would make it even worse, so on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say 9!!

Considering that killing for control of oil fields and dumping millions of tons of nuclear waste in the ocean is not a religion, I would say not so much.

10 Religion = more wars, more massacres, more death. Stupid battles continue over fictional characters named Jesus, Allah, Moses, etc. At the cost of humanity.
