Yes, I love Chinese culture, but then I am biased (I am Chinese!). I agree with others that compared to America, the Chinese government doesn't allow as many individual freedoms, but I think we should all realize, China is not at all Communist. When Deng Xiao Ping (the guy who took over China after Mao's demise and modernized it) declared "It is glorious to be rich!", he set the tone. China is just about as capitalist a country as you can find, but they are also an authoritarian country. But, this really doesn't apply to it's culture. Now that the "Great Proletariat Cultural Revolution" / nightmare is over, China is re-discovering it's roots and it's pre-communist culture is by and large prevalent again.

Which is a long way of saying, yes, I like traditional Chinese culture and China! Sorry for being so wordy...

I have been to China 4 times as an non-asiatic tourist. I love it. I have been to Beijing, Xian, Suzhou, Hangjou, Wuxi, Shanghai, Guilin, and Quanjou.
Since I have been to so many places in the world, as a tourist and photographer I do not judge countries by their political, religious, or ethical beliefs but rather by how the average "Joe" on the street treats me.
In China there are the good, the bad, and the ugly just like anyplace else. But on the whole I found the Chinese people to be very warm and friendly. As a photographer I find them very willing to have their picture taken and some strangers even invite me in to practice speaking English.
One experience I found particularily touching was when I was under a dark bridge below the Forbidden City where a bunch of homeless people were hanging out and I was sitting down eating a candy bar, one old lady came over and offered me a laddle full of food that she was eating out of a pot. It could have been a con job, but at least she earned a few Yuan for originality.
Just be careful when the cutist, sweetest young girl opens the door and clears her throat and spits a jumbo "hocker" in the street.

China's historical culture itself is wonderful...The Great Wall of China, the Terracotta Army, Forbidden City, and other such things are great places to visit in China. Even several communist sites, i.e. Tiananmen Square and Mao's Tomb, are wonderful tourists places. China's culture is much deeper than just the surface of communism there.

Although living there would be tough, as liberties of all people are restricted, the government's standards also heighten the quality of tourism there and help boost their economic standards. Anyways, the markets with overstock and fake items are still there, right? It can't all be bad if you get a Coach purse for $10.

I'm not saying that Communism is good necessarily, just it helps the historic part stay historic and not be urbanized, making for a good tourist destination.

i ABSOLUTELY DO. I went to China as year ago through a group tour and visited 13 cities from Beijing to Shanghai. I love the country, the buildings, history, culture food and best of all the people.

Me!

... but then I have actually been there.
I didn't get my view and understanding about China from movies, a book, or opinionated people.
I know that like any other country, China has families, moms, dads, giggling children, butterflies, singing birds, lovely trees, life, love, hope, dreams, and beauty. Young people fall in love and there is romance and magic. Old people dream, gossip and remember their beauty of youth. Grandparents adore their grandchildren like anyone else.
There are Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, and even a few Hindus.

China also has problems, heartbreak, and tragedy like any other country.

The government does not own or control children. They do not have custody. That is up to mom and dad.

I love China. I am having a difficult time sorting out exactly what I love about it-- but it is about the people for me, certainly not the government or political environment.

well...not really...but i'm starting to change my views towards china...i don't like the people...because they are kinda bragging a lot when i went there on a vacation...cheating the tourists of course....and the state of cleanliness is also a failure...except maybe for hangzhou...the people seems to neglect it....spitting can be seen so oftenly....i still can remember when i was on the second floor of an open boat in wuxi,a woman standing beside just spit to the first floor...it was so gross....i guess this is the thing that i hate about china...

but the historical and cultural side of china are very nice,mesmerising...i like it a lot...well...maybe this factor can cancel off my dislike for china i think....
