Some set a date right away, some wait for a year or more. My fiance left the date up to me, and I chose a date 19 months from the engagement-not for the number of months, but I wanted 6/21 for the summer solstice, but the next one would've been too soon. Now it's only 5 1/2 months away!

WOW! A year.. well I must have not does things the right way.. I waited about 3 months after the engagement to start planning the wedding.. It doesn't really matter how long you wait, it's a matter of how you want your wedding to go.. if you can plan your wedding in 4 months then get married then.. Just choose a day you like, and start planning! Good luck!!

Hi! It always depends. I knew my husband for a year before we married and now we're married for 24 happy years. There is no perfect time to to set a wedding date. All I know is that if you have a special fiance that is a good person that has good morals, job, and you respect him--don't let him get away. Good ones don't come by all the time. And don't expect too much out of your fiance. Don't let him be the source and summit of your life. Be balanced and laugh alot. Respect each other and work at staying together even when you don't feel like it. Marriage is a vocation, a job and it doesn't run on feelings. Be smart and have children if you can when you get married or you will end up old, lonely and selfish later on. Don't overwhelm him with talking and whining. Make sure you learn to be a good cook. Nurture him but don't smother. And don't let him ever abuse you with words or violence. Good luck to you sweetie!

purely the couple could make that selection. I dated a guy for 4 years and we ended up starting to be aside. I met my husband and replaced into engaged 3 months later, married 6 months after that. we've been married for fairly much 30 years. each and every so often you merely comprehend.

It really depends on how big you want your wedding to be and how many details you want to incorporate.

You can do anything that you set your mind to so you can get married as soon as you get engaged or wait it out a bit. It's purely your choice.

It's good to have about a year to plan your wedding but that's because you then have enough time to get your vendors all in order and some time to work on your details...favors, smaller decorations, etc.

I got married in 10 months and it did feel a bit rushed but I also did a lot of do it yourself type projects that helped me to make my wedding more personalized for myself.

Good Luck and Congrats!

My boyfriend purposed in August of 06. It wasn't until November we offically set a date that was 15 months away. (Feb 23, 2008).

Normally, I see people getting in engaged and getting married with in 6 to 12 months. Depending on financial, large or smallness of wedding or other personal reasons of theirs.

I think, about a year seems about what most people go for, maybe a little longer sometimes. My husband and I got married within 4 months of getting engaged.

A week. You aren't really engaged unless you have a ring and a date, girl! - and not more than a year away, either.

my boyfriend hasn't proposed to me yet, but we've been looking for engagement ring - weird isn't it? and we already have a wedding date.. he hasn't spoken to our parents yet about our plans of getting married. i think we only have 8-9 months for the preparation part - we're planning to get married on October 20, 2007. i dont want to make any move until he proposes to me.
