I was thinking of drinking a lot of water, i don't do drugs just my mother said that cough medication shows up on the drug test i just need to know what i should do, since i've been taking cough medicine for my cold...

Don't take any drugs would be the ideal thing to do! Over the counter cough medicine does not show up on most drug tests. Prescription cough medication that contains codeine does. If you drink huge amounts of water, the test will show up as "dilute" which lets them know that you intentionally drank water to flush your system out. If this truly is just for cough medicine you'll be fine. There are things you can buy that will make you test negative (good) for a certain amount of hours but some tests can detect those things. Most street drugs (except marijuana) only stay in your system for 2-3 days.

Breathe easy. The only cough medicine that will show up is prescription cough medicine with Codiene. Any over the counter medicine is fine for you to take in regards to a drug test. So unless you've been drinking someone else's prescription cough medicine or doing drugs, you will be just fine. And if you have a prescription for the cough syrup with Codiene, no worries there either, just bring the prescription bottle with you and show the tester.

It will not. I have taken like 7 drug tests within two week period, after a whole night of drinking beer and whatever, but what they test you for is THC, and other controlled substances. Cough medicine usually contains alcochol so do not worry!!!

Look everyone mentions codeine but no one mentioned psueodophedrine. That would be found in a drug test. But you don't have too much to worry about just bring the bottle of cold meds to the test center so it can be declared.

If it is regular cough medicine, you will be fine, ifit has codeine in it and you have a prescription for it, bring a copy of the prescription for the test and give a copy to your employer or who ever wants the test.

If you drink a lot of water, it shows up as a "dilute sample" which makes it look like you're trying to mask drug use.

you should stop taking them for a while then do the urin test and before make sure u drink allot of water atleast thats what i would do
