the kick is generated buy the rotation of the hip and the movement of your foot on the support leg.follow through past the point of contact as if it is not there.aim for the knees and thigh to take out the legs.take care not to follow through to far and leave your back as a target.i have yet to see a Thai fighter that does`nt leave his back open because it takes to long and to much energy to pull off a traditional round house kick and they leave there backs unprotected trying to make that power kick.tko

First off, don't unless it's for a belt test or other exhibition. The roundhouse is one of the worst moves you could ever do because it turns your back to the opponent.

Ok, done with that the answer is: Ask your sensei. Don't have one? Then don't do it. You can hurt yourself without proper training and supervision.

The most important things in a roundhouse kick are to "snap" your kick (extend your leg and bring it back quickly), to switch your hips quickly, and to turn your bottom foot all the way around.
First, bring up your leg.
Then, turn your hips (this is the sorce of power)
Then, kick.... your leg should horizontal.
Finally, retract your leg.
