Except I, like many, do not subscribe to that medieval religious dogma.

Wow. Are you ever misinformed.
The Bible is clear: not all sin is fatal. See 1 John 5:17.
In other words, not all sins ("all legal infractions") merit damnation ("endless torture").
So, "make all legal infractions punishable by endless torture" is NOT "God's example."
God would be right to hire a lawyer and sue you for slander.

God's laws do not apply to Him. He is God and He can do what ever He pleases.
The perfect example was Jesus, and still is. God does not want to torture anyone, but that is the choice we need to make regarding the eternal life.

How is that God's example? Have you ever read the Bible? You're taking an 11th century doctrine that is rejected by millions of Christians and applying it universally. Ever heard of the Unrepresentative Sample fallacy?
I think you mean, "Why don't we follow the example set by radical, left-wing fundamentalists and make..."

The afterlife is irrelevant if indeed there is one. punishment time is NOW... endless torture is ridiculous and cruel. getting violent offernds off the stree and getting huge $$$ settlements from white collar criminals is justice enough.

That idea sounds totally insane, barbaric, primitive and stupid. But if it's good enough for God and Jerry Fallwell, I guess I'll just have to go along with it.

Of course, are we not called to live in a Godly manner? That would be a fine place to start.
Once again, that is sarcasm.
