My cockapoo is eight and I'm a bit worried about her. This morning she was just fine, playing with her toy and running around me, and getting sad when I leave for work. When I came back home I noticed my dog did not come to greet me before I even open the door. I opened the snack drawer which she always comes running over when she hears it and I threw her toy but she did not fetch it. I was even more worried when I saw her shivering a bit. She shivers for about ten seconds and stops so I took her outside and she stopped shivering. When I was petting her belly I accidentaly touched her leg and she growled at me. Then she jumped off the SOFA. She wasn't running and right now she is laying down and licking her paws, I spent an hour and a half looking for a good website for symptoms. I don't want to take her to the vet just yet because I want to see if anything gets worse overnight or for two days. I asked a questions like an two hours ago but everyone said she was VERY VERY ILL...

She also isn't eating or drinking her food. She always starts eating when I come home because she is so happy. And I don't think she could get a disease in 7 hours. She also isn't jumping or running and she growls too when I push her back or press her back.

I want to know if she is sick or has a disease and if so what? If you might know..AND DON'T TELL ME TO SEND HER TO THE VET. If I have to send her to the vet IMMEDIATLY then she would have to be spilling diahrea and/or vomiting or something like that. The worst right now is shivering. I just turned on the heater though and she's got over that so I think she was cold because I am cold and she got a hair cut and I have no body hair. Just on my head... :-)

Cockapoos are prone to back problems. I'm not sure what the treatment is.
One of the best preventions for this is keeping her weight within the normal range.

What do you expect people to tell you here other than go and see the vet!! Even if you could get valid advice it isnt like we can see your dog right now or examine it . Obviously you want to be reassured and avoid going to a vet. Usually when a dog acts like that they are in pain so stop playing guessing games. Your dog could have a number of problems according to the symptoms you wrote from her leg to swallowing an obstruction .If you wait to see if it will go away just make sure that if by tomorow she is not eating or drinking you go and get the proper care asap
sorry if that is not what you want to hear but welcome to the world of realistic and responsible dog owning.

I would just keep an eye on her for a couple of days. You would know if your dog is ill enough to be seen by an emergency vet. Maybe she did hurt her leg or paw while you were gone to work. She would be shaking if she is hurt because she doesn't understand why she is hurting. If she stops shaking its probably because something else got her attention & she wasn't thinking about being hurt. Don't pamper her when she acting this way because then you are reinforcing that behavior.

I hope everything is ok with her.

You should take her to the vet. Changes in behavior are not a good sign. Also, anytime a pet stops eating or drinking, it could mean something serious. Pets don't need to be vomiting or have loose stool to see the vet.

If she will let you try to examine her paw, maybe you can tell if somethings wrong, and if you want to not go to the vet right now, atleast call up ur vet and ask what could have happened (its free).

Is she the type of dog that chews things or swallows objects? She may have something in her stomach or something wrong with her intestines.
Or she may have a urinary tract infection.
Is she using the bathroom fine??
Tempt her with a different type of treat... maybe a small chunk of cooked meat.
If she continues to not eat through the weekend, definitely take her to the vet. Keep a close eye on her and her bathroom habits.
Good luck!

Umm, as I said before...seizures. If you don't take me seriously, maybe her having a grand maul will grab your attention.

BTW -- if you figure the only emergency an animal will face is diarrhea or vomiting, you should not be a dog owner. get a virtual pet - they don't cost money, just your internet connection
