At your age there isn't anything you can do to get them to move and all those answers telling you to do bad stuff isn't going to work...it's just going to get you in trouble and put places that you really don't want to go. I know being stuck in a horrid small town may be the pits but think of it as a learning experience...try to get involved in sports or extracurricular activities in school. Make some good friends and learn how to deal with it. It will make you a better person in the long run and collage is just a few years away for you...if you need someone to talk to beside you parents talk to a teacher or preacher or a friends mom..or add me as a friend. I grew up in a tiny town that I hated but you know what?? Thinking back it was the best start for me. even though I thought it was the worst thing in the world!

There are plenty of reasons why people decide to live in "horrid small towns", and generally their kids' happiness isn't tops on the list. My guess is that you're probably in high school, right? You've only got a few more years before you can head out into the "real world" or away to college -- keep your grades up, and you'll have the pick of colleges all over the country, so you can live wherever you want. In the meantime, make the most of it -- you may actually miss it someday!

maybe it's not the smallness of the town that makes it horrid, it's just your mentality. realistically you probably won't be able to make your parents go through the hassles of buying and selling houses and furniture and moving stuff and breaking ties with their jobs, friends, affiliations, and up and get new ones. so just make the best of your life where you are now until you can leave for college or when you can afford it, if you're older than that.

Best thing you can do is study. They probably don;t want to leave and nothing you say will change that. If you do great in school, get a job, save money, when you get older you can move by yourself. Start preparing now. They already know how you feel and there is nothing more you can do but make the best of it. try to enjoy it now because once you are in a bigger city, you will miss what you had there. Be patient. Good luck.

Right now, you feel stranded on an island. Been there and done that. My advice is to bask in it for it won't be but a couple of decades and these will be the good old days. Why not try and list some good things about your situation. Whether you can or you can't... you're right.

YOU can leave once you have FINISHED your schooling and have reached the LEGAL age to do so. Otherwise you are the responsibility of your parents, and where they live is dependent on the cost of living and where they have jobs to earn the money to pay for all the things that you need everyday.

Explain the situation openly. Most probably they think you want then to stay.
