Eat a heatly diet and exercise regularly but not within 2 hours before bedtime. Cut caffeine and out of your diet. There are a lot of herbal remedies you can take to help with sleep - valerian root & 5-HTP (tryptophan) are the most common but there's a lot if you check the natural supplements aisle. Try taking a warm bath before you go to bed. Warm milk also helps (it contains tryptophan). If you can't fall asleep within an hour, get up and go into another room and read or watch tv, don't just lie in bed it will make it worse. Even if you haven't slept much, get up early (7:00 am) every day - even on the weekends - and don't take naps during the day to get into the habit of sleeping only at night. Tylenol PM will help you fall asleep if you're desperate but any sleep medication can be addicting so don't take it regularly without talking to your doctor. If none of these things help, go see your doctor.

Do you consume much coffee(even decaf), tea(other than herbal) or chocolate? If so, you might be having sleep problems due to caffeine.
How about stress? Are you experiencing a higher level of stress in any area of your life?
Those two things have affected my sleep in the past.
Aside from minimizing stress and caffeine, I've found that working out regularly helps with my sleep.
It is often also suggested to not eat too close to bedtime, so make sure you're not having dinner an hour before you go to bed.
A glass of warm milk or chamamile tea about 40 minutes before you go to bed might be worth trying as well.
Sweet Dreams!

sometimes a long walk 3/5 miles will relax you or some really good sex might make you feel better so you can relax. This usually does the trick for me. Usually physical exhaustion will lead to sleep if you just let your body relax. Good luck.

Read at night just read until your eyes get tired and you have to sleep. Also you can just think of many things in your mind that would make you fall to sleep. Thats what I do.

Lite a few candles, turn out the lights and take a long hot bubble bath. It always works for me.
