Ali will be 65 on the 17th of Jan. 2007. Mentally he is alert from what I've read and heard. You can see from his appearance, at Madison Square Garden recently when his daughter fought, that he has aged and is aging rapidly. Other than that I am not going to describe what other people can see other than to say what courage he has to continue making appearances. He was the best boxer, had great courage in and out of the ring throughout his life, and was and is an idol of mine. I guess the greatest knock of this guy is that he was a conciencious objecter during the Vietnam War. It was 40 years ago. He didn't do what
Joe Louis and Jackie Robinson did by being in the military. They boxed and played baseball while they served. Ali could have done that. He was against the war as many were and have over the years realized it was a mistake to be in Vietnam. Does it make it right? The Supreme Court of the U.S. cleared his name years ago so I guess he's OK. Ali bashers have there opinion I and millions of others have ours. It turned out he was right, he is the greatest.
