In your 20's get all the crazies out of your system.Live out all your wild life and have a good education behind you.Start toning it down before your thirties and have some goals you want to reach. At 30 you should be aware of what career you are going to persue. You should also be thinking about 401K plans and your future. You may even want to start planning for a family (marriage).Work and build your credit so buying or building a home will be something to consider. This is the time of your life when you should take it very seriously.People in their 30s dont realize that it takes allot to retire and live off of a fixed income so plan ahead and save, invest or put money in IRAs and 401K's.
In your 40's you should be setteled and have kids by now.Give them the best education that you can afford.Allot of people get divorced around this age so you and your spouse should talk about your committment to each other and your family.By now you should be financially able to take better vacations and enjoy what life has to offer.Take advantage of this and see the country.Be sure to watch your health. At 40 both men and woman start changing and it's more important to keep an eye on your health.Stay active so you will be in better shape later in life.We tend to start slowing down in the 40's and gain weight, start showing sign's of age also become more relaxed in our lives. This is a very short version of things but it covers some of the main things that you can expect.Hope it helps.

Really... aren't there enough rules? Start in your 20's, try to get an education, a job, build a relationship, have kids if you want, make money, have fun, travel... retire when you can afford it... live to be 100. Gees... don't hem yourself in, just do what you have to do and live!

my older cousin is in her 40's, I'm in my early 20's. .. she says this to me all the time:

20's is for you, figuring out who you are and what you want.
late 20's early 30's is for marriage, kids
40's kid raising...you know, all the pre teen teen stuff (she has 2 teen girls now)
and in the 50's you get to reinvent yourself!
that's her life in a nutshell, as told to me! haha :) not sure of its validity as I'm still figuring it all out myself, but just thought i'd pass this along... :) :) good luck, and may life take you far!~
