I used to think that meant i was doing good as a parent. Then i realized that even kids in abusive situations love their parents and feel loyalty to them... Then suddenly I didn't take it as a 'you are doing good' as kids say this to any parent...

Am I wrong in this?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Kids love even abusive parents because they truly know how to give unconditional love. That doesn't mean that they will express it the same as a child who doesn't have abusive parents.

My stepson does not have a relationship with his bio-mom. He does not show her love the same way he does with me. He hangs on me and gives me hugs and tells me all the time that I am the best mom ever and how much he loves me. The only thing he does to show love for her is to call her mom - he calls me mom too. He knows that she has asked him to call her mom (and has told him to NOT call me mom, but he has been told here he is allowed to call me whatever he wants), so he shows her love by doing that for her, although he doesn't see her the same way he does me.

Take the picture put it on the fridge and give your kid a big hug and a kiss and tell them that you love them. When they are older you will miss this time. Kids no nothing other then how to be a kid. All of the bad stuff they learn it from us.

thatz the sweetest thing i ever heard!!! the kids just want you to know that u mean everything to them thatz just how they r expressing their love for you no matter how u treat them....well for a change then try to be a "good" parent and not abusive...that shud be ther children's reward applaud them and keep their drawings in a special place.

I would hope you are wrong. I tell everyone that walks into my kitchen, "Who needs wallpaper when you have 3 little artists?" My daughter loves to draw heart and home pictures for me to post. She writes "I love Mommy" on all of them because, as she says, "I want everyone to know I love Mommy"

Don't freak out if you don't have a reason to!
Assuming the worst never helped anybody.

If you are not abusing him, then maybe he really does love you. Enjoy it while it lasts....
