No, a local anesthetic at most, that's all that's needed.

I had one removed from my back when I was 20. I got a small shot of lidocaine (ask the dr to blend it with sodium bicarbonate-it takes the sting out!). Then he clamped a circular device around the mole to isolate it, like what body piercers use to hold up the navel for piercing. Then he used a knife like a window scraper, and sliced it off. It took all of 5 minutes. Then he put some antibacterial ointment and a bandage on it. It didn't hurt a bit and I didn't feel a thing....

I wouldn't think so. My son had a mole that was 3inches long and 11/2 inches wide, they shot him 18 times with novacaine and went to work. He was five at the time and loved every minute of it!

Doubt it. Why would you need to be put to sleep for getting a mole removed? That's ridiculus. Getting put to sleep is for major surgeries.
