where can i buy a really good hair straightner that actually works and what kind of brand

Allure magazine named the Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Straightener as The best straightener money can buy. I have read literally hundreds of reviews on them and not one bad thing was ever mentioned. And yes it does work better than the CHI. If you invest the money into one (about $125) it will be the last straightener you will ever have to buy.

I got mine from sallys beauty supply, its a Jilbere (de paris) from the tourmaline series its about 60$ and goes up to almost 600 degrees, I have very curly and thick hair and it straightens my dry hair in 15 minutes!! its AMAZING!! I have tried alot of the other brands but they frizz my hair- this one is ceramic and actually fuses the ends and makes my hair actually healthier!! I LOVE IT!

I would discourage you from straightening your own hair, overprocessing it could destroy the texture of your hair for years to come. However, if you could seek the help of someone to do it for you and follow directions carefully, while monitoring how your hair is responding to the chemical, there are dozens of products for African-American hair on the shelf of most drugstores and big box stores such as Wal-Mart. As for Caucasian hair, I only know of professional straightening at a salon.

I have VERY curly hair and have tried lots of different flat irons. The only one I've found that works for me is by Chi, I bought it through a salon for about $250 three years ago. Very good investment!
