Hi,

A lot of Girl Scouts around the country will be selling Girl Scout cookies this month. Do you support the Girl Scouts or have a Girl Scout that you know?

My daughter's troop has to sell a certain amount of cookies to be able to go to the Cosmosphere in March which is $65.00 per person.

Different regions sell cookies for different prices-our price will be $3.50 a box with a $0.53 profit. So each girls' goal is to sell 120 boxes of cookies to pay their own way.

Also, if you do buy cookies do you purchase them through family/friends, if a girl comes to your door or a booth sale (where they are standing in front of a business)?

I personally enjoy supporting Girl Scouts and want to hear what other's say and feel about it?

I like them, and of course will buy them because my cousin will hit me up & also my mom still buys them as a treat for us & our families. Now that I lost weight I hope I don't go back to eating them so much!! I also sold them in the 80s and liked the whole process. Gives kids independence & teaches them a lot. Just don't let them go out alone if they are selling! I don't personally like it when they are in front of a biz cuz they tend to be pushy and u feel obligated. Maybe send out an email to all your contacts, let your family/friends, co-workers and neighbors know and that should do it. Good luck, hope you reach your goal.

I was a Girl Scout and selling cookies was horribly torturous for me. I am a naturally introverted person, and I noticed that the other shy girls were very unhappy and nervous having to try to go up to strangers and talk, little alone having to sell a product. The belief that making a shy child do this will "break" them of their shyness is beyond cruel and just plain ignorant. Being introverted is not abnormal, it is just a personality trait and can't be "broken". Anyway, I think selling cookies is a great activity for extroverted girls who enjoy the challenge of sales and like to be in the spotlight, but I think it's emotionally unhealthy to force a shy girl to do it. My mom ended up selling all my cookies to her work colleagues or just buying them out right after she realized how unhappy the activity made me. If your child is naturally shy, please don't make her do this, because it's only likely to cause her unhappiness or just make her want to quit the scouts.

My neighbor just brought her daughter over and I bought a box for $4. It's really not about the cookies, but helping to support the girls. It's a good cause, they have fun doing it, and it teaches them so much! (Provided the parents aren't selling them at work!) My daughter was a Daisy and Brownie and she had to sell the cookies on her own - I did accompany her.

Yes, ah yes, I will be buying cookies, many cookies, many many cookies. They are just too handy in my storage room. :-(
My girls are trying to raise money for their Gold Award project and they also want to travel to Europe before they graduate. Far cry from the Pizza Party goal when they were Brownies. LOL

I will end up buying some from some of my students. I don't usually eat them because I try to avoid sweets. I'll give them to a food bank.

I have been given incredibly apprehensive and that they made themselves unapproachable to me with the aid of performing all desperate and staring at me! So I only left and did not purchase something.
