High school is your first big shot at life, other than college of course...but in fact, its your prep for college, and let me tell you, you DEF. need to have a planner...you probably had it throughout jr. high, but you need to really devote yourself into using it...you'll have more to do, with less time to do it, and sometimes things can get very disorganized and messy...and a planner will help you stay in tune with all your deadlines. ALSO, make sure you use binders for your classes, instead of notebooks, that way you can have dividers and not only keep all your class notes in one section, but all your homework, and corrected tests in other sections of the binder...it will really help you around the end of the year when finals stroll around...all you will need is your binder bc everything is already in it.
good luck!

Keep one binder for every class with dividers (5 should be enough) with labels such as Notes, Hand-Outs, Tests, Quizzes, Lectures, Maps, etc. (depending on what course). Some teachers will still tell you what they want. Make sure you have a one subject notebook for each class in addition to the binder... Or just loose leaf paper in each binder. If you have a blocked schedule (A/B days) have one shelf set up for A days, one for B days. Have a desk ready with a drawer for papers, notebooks. A drawer for pens, highlighters, sharpies, etc.
What really truly helps me is to put a date on every quiz, note, scrap of paper... Everything! That way when tests come around you have the right information in the right order. Some people suggest writing only on one side of the paper, special note taking styles, 5 day study plans etc etc etc. Don't stress out in your freshman year. Teachers will be easy on you and by the time you finish you'll have the general idea.
Always have paper, pens, and pencils in your backpack though! One pen and one pencil at least! A red pen may help too. It's always a good idea to look back on old tests and put in the correct answers in red for the next test/final.

okay what you need to do is pay attention during class, write down notes and be very organized.... the second thing that you need to do is take an extra class on where stuff belongs cuz this has nothing to do with cats....
okay that last part was a joke, but remember you have to be really organized and keep your notes organized and neat, also if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, because there is a 99% chance that someone else in that room has the amse question but is afraid to ask it.... good luck.

I'm going to tell you what I wish someone would have told me as I started high school. Focus on your studies and don't worry about what people do, say, or think about you. Just be yourself and work hard. You are in school to learn and not socialize.

Umm, first strengthen your reading skills and put this question in the right category.
Second, a Trapper Keeper always did wonders for me. I had a folder for each class that I kept my homework and notes for that specific class in.
