She is 10 weeks old, and we got her ears cropped yesterday. She stayed overnight at the vet, and they said she was fine. But when we brought her home, she is acting CRAZY! She keeps trying to scratch her ears, but she is acting like she has never acted before. we have had her for a month, and today she is gettin into stuff that she has never done before. Jumping on the table, biting the couch, etc. Shes not in ANY PAIN WHAT SO EVER, but im wondering if her pain medicine is making her disoriented. SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY, NONE OF THE CRUELTY TO ANIMAL BS!!

And, I feel worried about going to sleep while she is in the crate. Im scared she will scratch at her ear and accidentally rip one of her stitches out. They only have a piece of padding on the inside of her ears. They will tape them in 7 days(after the stitches are out)

They probably gave her metacam or a similar pain med. No, pain meds wont make her disoriented. You may want to consider getting a sedative from your vet. Do you have a crate that you could put her in? And how do you know that she isnt in pain? Ear crops and declaws are the most painful surgeries that there are for animals, and they are mainly cosmetic and unneccessary. However, it is your choice to have it done. Did they put the wraps on her ears? I know our clinic does, and that might be what is driving her nuts. If not, just dont let her get to her ears and damage them. Good luck!

You have to think about all the things she is trying to process, I am sure you are working on things like sit, lay down... and getting her ears cropped is kinda a big thing, I think it may just be a reaction. You know when you are on pain meds, and your body is in pain, but you cant feel it cause of the pain meds, your body still reacts to it. It might be the medication. If you are really concerned, ask your vet if behavior changes after this process is normal, or maybe the medication is too strong.

First it was just yesterday that she had them done. She may be reacting to the anesthesia. I have seen people react oddly to different medications. Second. she may actually be in some sort of pain. That would account for the scratching of her ears. It is also weird for her to have her ears tied up and she may not ever get used to that. Try taking her for walks and doing things that will keep her mind off the propping up of her ears. If this is still going on you may ask your vet for a different type of pain med.

A friend of mine had one of her min pins done and the dog acted this way after the surgery and was never the same afterward, very fearful, could not stand for anyone to touch even close to her ears.

i had sooo many of my dogs ears done that i'll tell u that it not surprising that ur's is acting like that . ur dog just doesn't know how to react to it yet . just give it a couple of days to know for sure. it might be her way of acting out . or it could be just a slight reaction to the meds that she was givin. u just have to make sure that u still stay in charge and don't let her get away with misbehaving.

You might want to get her an elizabethian collar, usually vets give them to you with ear cropping. You should be abe to get one at petsmart. They hate the collar, but it's better than having her cause damage to her ears.

well when i was little my dad used to breed dobies we're talking 30 yrs ago and he used to crop their ears himself. they were always tame and didnt react the way ur baby does so im guessing it might be the meds. im guessing that since there are alot of meds for humans that make them loopy then there are meds for k9s that might also make them loopy but i hope u receive answers that are more suitable to ur interest. :)
