It's a myth. If you always keep your hair in a ponytail you can cause your hairline to recede though.

Myth. If you want your hair to grow brush it EVERY night. Wrapping it would help as well. If you leave your hair in a ponytail your hairdresser WILL notice.. Most of the time the section of your hair that is in contact with the scrunchy will create split ends and weaken that section of your hair.

because wearing hair in a ponytail
is a protective hairstyle a way to prevent its breakage
and hair grows in a constant rate " about 1 1/2 inch a month"
so ponytail will protect the existing hair while your hair grows from the scalp..........you do the math
but wearing a ponytail too tight will cause the hairline to resceed back

no.you just dont notice that it grows gradually because you always have it in a ponytail.
