If he's an ex-Physician because he lost his licence, a Medical Disciplinary committe will have pulled it. In Canada (where I live) there's a provicinal search to look at Disciplinary commitee hearings, but a Google search pulled up this for the US: http://www.docboard.org/

I know there are sites available to search for physicians, and wether or not they are licensed.

Do a Google search with quotes around his full name and then the city where he was.
Like this: "John W. Smith, M.D." Philadelphia
