When a dog sticks his head out of the window of a moving he's not doing it because he likes the wind in his face. He is doing it because of the smells and sense he is picking up on the wind current that is going by.This is called "Air scenting" If you'll notice when they do this they are constantly sniffing the air as it goes by. Dogs have a natural fascination with scenting odors and is how they inspect and identify their environment. And when they have their heads out the window of a moving car they are being bombarded with lots of different smells. In the dogs mind this is like "WOW"!! "HOW COOL IS THIS". It's not the same thing however when you blow in the dogs face. That is just annoying to the dog.

Do you like it when your dog breathes on your face? lol I think not... but I am sure you like the warm wind on your face at the beach dont you??... Someone blowing in your face whether you are a dog or human, is deliberately attempting to cause annoyance, and it doesnt smell too pleasant, nobody enjoys being annoyed.... reveling in the smell of a clean fresh wind of your own free will is something entirely different.. everyone enjoys the smell of fresh clean wind.

i have answered this same exact question before. When you blow in a dogs face it is irritating, they know you are trying to mess. But when they stick their head out the car window they can look around, they can smell the environment, it is an adventure. Just like how we don't like someone blowing in our face, but when we are out on a boat we like to feel the wind of a nice day, and we're happy to be out on a lake, and the wind is enjoyable.

Dogs don't like the smell of bad breath, just the same as people don't like it.
