i believe that they are just looking to tell you they are there. cats always come first in their world. give them lots of attention and talk to them as they walk in front of you.

Because cats know who owns them, and it's like telling you they know you are the boss and they love you for feeding them, giving them a place to stay, and cleaning their liter. My cat follows me all the time, love him! And for attention, cats need it too.
