Three days ago we just got our new mattress it is a pillow top, now we have been sleeping on a waterbed for 22+ years, I did sweat alittle in that but on this mattress, I am like a 500 degree oven, when I first go to bed I am so cold (use to the heat in the waterbed) but if I wake up like 2 hours after I have gotten to sleep, someone had turned on the oven, is it the pillow top? A couple of people said it might be, but I am not sure what to do, I don't think I can exchange the pillow top for one that isn't...any suggestions? Thank you.

Yes, Yes, Yes, it is the pillow top. We got one about six years ago and aside from being a pain to get linen for (at that time) it is the hottest place in the house (not from any "activities" either) We have tried different sheets and blankets and the best combination we have come up with is cotton sheets (the higher the count the better) and light blankets and if you need a bed spread, cotton also. We tried satin and silk and it felt cool at first but after about fifteen minutes, Hot! Flannel, no way! I wish you the best and we will never buy another. Good Luck>

You know, I have been getting the same problem since I've moved (and got a new ultra plush pillow top mattress...); I just never thought it was the mattress causing the problem. I get really hot too. Just the other night, I was drenched in sweat. Just like the first nights after having a baby. I dont get the best sleep unless the room is cold but everyone else yells in the house. Thanx. I never thought it could have been the mattress. If I were you, I would try out a new mattress and see the difference.

I'm with the negative comments. Had our pillow top mattress for 2 1/2 years. HORRIBLE. I'm now sleeping in our guestroom with a regular twin size mattress that you can flip over. Our expensive pillow top also has the lump in the middle plus an indent where our hips rest. We, too, are an average size couple, considered well fit.

you are used to the water bed taking the heat away from your body. you didn't have it set at 98 degrees, right? if you got a really thick pillow top, you are sleeping down in the foam and don't cool off. we went from a water bed to the 2nd hardest simmons beauty rest no flip, with about 1-1 1/2" pillow top. we don't sink into it so we don't over heat, and we use flannels during the winter. some stores have a 30 day test period, did the store you bought from offer that kind of deal? maybe you could tell them it's too soft, and hurts either yours or your partners back, and exchange it for less pillow top. good luck.

I have a heated matress pad. It warms the bed and then ai turn it off. This way I can turn the heat down at night and breathe better. So, it may be the change but a waterbed is warm all night so, sounds unlikely. Maybe hot flashes? Dunnnoooo. Hope you get setteled. I don't think it's the bed. The heated matress pad would help the cold entrance in bed though, that i do know. lol

I have a double pillow top. It gets really hot when I have really heavy sheets on it. Water doesn't hold in heat and the solidity of the pillow top makes it warmer to start with. I'd suggest you try changing to lighter weight sheets (if you are using heavy ones) and crack a door or window just a little bit to cool the room down to counteract it if you get too hot in the middle of the night for a short while. If you don't want to crack a window getting a little rotating fan to leave on low could help with the heat and keep you feeling safe. I take my down comforter off and put on another sheet with a simple blanket over it. My fan is a back up to that, lol.

How is your hormone levels? I am serious. Go have a check up at the drs. It also could be cause you slept on the water bed for so long too. I never heard of sweating too much on a pillow top but then one never knows for sure! Good Luck.Call the furniture store and say you have changed your mind and also let them know you have not slept on it as then they would not take it back..
