First make sure your CD ROM is the first bootable device in your BIOS settings. Then boot your computer with WinXP CD. Somewhere within the installation you will be given an option for format your hard drive!

Uninstalling Windows XP is impossible you can only format it not uninstall it WHEN YOU PU THE CD IN DON"T TAKE IT OUT AND RESRT YOUR COMPUTER IT SHOULD GIVE YOU THE MESSAGE "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD" and i suggest you go to the following website if you also want to instal your computer in way so that you have a real chance to make it work fast PERMENANTLY

You cannot remove the OS from the add/remove menu.

You will need to boot from your XP cd and then format your HD.

Have you tried:
open My Computer
click C: just to highlight and select
cl File
cl Format
specify c:

Then, couldn't you install WinXP from the legitimate CD?
