I have a fox terrier that sheds soooo badly. I bathe him and brush him, and I have fed him top of the line dog food, and he still sheds. If he shakes hs body I can watch the hair float in the air around him. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you considered the emotional side of shedding? All animals shed when they're nervous or stressed out, even humans do. Is there anything that can be bugging him all the time enough to do that? Otherwise, the first answer has the solution, or at least half of it. There are products at stores you can use, but what would be best is if you go to a Pet Store and ask someone's expertise on your dog's breed and problem. They can provide the best answers, and believe me....they're not always trying to sell you the product. Sometimes, it IS what you need that's a little more expensive then -that other brand-.

If your dog is shedding to the point he has bald spots a vet check is in order as this can be a sign of medical problems, such as a thyroid disorder.

If its not a medical issue it may be a food issue. What high quality foods have you tried? How long did you keep him on the foods? It takes at least 6-8 weeks to notice a big change from a switch in foods.

How often do you bath him? Dogs should only be bathed once every six month unless obviously dirty. Overbathing can cause dry itchy skin, hot spots, and even more dog odor. Daily brushing will keep your dog clean between baths. Bathing strips their coats of its natural oils and that leads to unhealthy skin and coat.

My dog sheds really bad too. Its worse in the summer time. They make this stuff to help it. You buy it at pet stores. I forgot what its called but its a liquid that you put on their food. Also they make shed control shampoos.

Well first off.. you need to stop givin him so many baths.. YOUR DRYIN OUT HIS SKIN. second off if you keep brushing him he'll keep shedding more. I suggest a strong salon conditioner. Spoil your pet..make him feel like he is the one. like he is respected.. like he has friends.. like he is rich..like he is prissy..like he is polished..like he is on top of the world..llike he is blessed. take him to a proffesional groomer and get him groomed.. might help a little but if you dont like shedding you might not want a dog.
