I think it would be impossible to get a consensus from the Christian community, because they can't seem to agree on much of anything! Ask 10 people from 10 different churches about anything concerning the bible, God, Jesus, and you'll get 9 different answers!!

Which line of evolution theory - the one popularized by Gould or the line popularized by Dawkins. The first one states that all phyla were created around the same time and the second one(reductionist) says that new phyla are still being created through natural selection. Both cannot obviously be right. The second line of thinking has been obviously proven in the last century to have created more evil than all religions put together, through Hitler and the Aryans and Darwins' and Galtons' theories on the inferiority of some species and in this century through the creation of atheistic fundamentalism.

But I have never heard any christians say they beleive in evolution. They all push the creation story - that God made the world - nothing evolved.

Now you're saying that religion IS preaching evolution?
When did this new teaching start?
And what denomination started it?
I'd really like to know.

The majority of Christians have no problem with evolution. Even Pope John Paul II said that evolution is much more than just a mere theory. I was taught that evolution was correct by nuns in Catholic High School and by a Catholic Priest (and PhD Biologist) at a Catholic University. Since Catholics make up more than 50% of the Christians in the world -- we can clearly say that most Christians accept evolution.

It is really just a fringe group of Christian Extremists who deny its validity.

Absolutely.
1) Evolution has allowed us to escape a blinding literalism which is not Biblical.
2) Evolution confirms the creation account of the defeat of chaos - makes one wonder about black holes; order as progressive; water above the heavens and black matter; - in Gen. 1
3) The second creation accnt from a different writer handles topics such as our origin - earth/male female equality/ the mental issues of sexual roles and moral/ethical foundations.
4) Contrary to popular imagination, the Bible no where claims exclusivity to its creation accounts. Ur -- where Abram grew up has a much older accnt in the Gilgamesh Epic. Much of what is in the Bible story of creation is derived from it. Evolution is (forcing) us to read the Bible for what it says.
Thanks for the uniquely shaped question.

Most people don't talk about the theory of Evolution. Just Evolution (the process) itself.

Yes... they are two different things.

In any case, my mother is a Christian and believes in Evolution.

I'm a Christian and I believe our understanding of evolution is further proof of the genius of God. When God designed the life forms on the earth He programmed them so they could adapt as their environment changed, and these adaptations are what we call evolution.

Yes. It proves that God loves chimpanzees. In fact, it is proof that God exists because without Him, how could Darwin or scientists be here?

I read this in the brilliant Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy years ago:
"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves that you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. Q.E.D."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing."

Dammit. I can't believe I answered your question. Come back, God, come back! I never meant to prove your existence!

See http://www.hyahya.org/c_refutation_darwinism.php to see the truth about evolution.

If the Catholics have accepted Darwinian evolution, they are nothing but a bunch of scared conformists who are afraid of loosing their flock in Europe.
