yes, my son is always calling me and his father "cracker" and it pisses me off. If I'm a cracker and his father is a cracker, wouldn't that make him a cracker too? Try explaining that to a 12 year old though. They think they know everything!!.
But besides that it is offensive to some people. I do not find it offensive unless it was meant to be offensive. My son says it to be offensive.

It's like the opposite of the N word.
But I thought this was funny!
My cousin and I were orguing and my three year old asked what was wrong. I told her to go call Zach a fricken fracker and I would be okay.
So she suns outside, in the middle of the neighborhood and yells "Zach, you are a fricken CRACKER".
Everyone cracked up, except for her!!
But, now it's not so funny to call someone a cracker!!

Umm ... yes. That is a ratial slurr. It's just as bad as calling a black person the n word or a mexican a beaner. Joking is one thing among friends but if you are calling someone a cracker just because you feel like it and to be mean that is being extremely discriminating and wrong.

Unless they are from Georgia, absolutely it's wrong. At one point, it was considered a compliment in Georgia, but it is essentially a racial slur now, and can only be taken as such, as it is usually used interchangibly with "white trash."
(Lance: to answer your question, that's because "cracker" has another meaning that is not offensive. It's like George Carlins skit about the 7 words you can't say on TV. You can say "Pussy" on TV - if you're talking about a cat and you can say "Cock" if you're talking about a Rooster. The "N-word" is considered universally offensive, at least in a general public context and can, therefore, be easily filtered.)

And to even make things more ironic I've heard that the "N" word was a classification given to certain white people in earlier days
