I am a male high school senior in the US, born and raised in the US. I am interested in this girl but there is this guy in my class who talks with a British accent and all the girls are all over him, including the girl I'm interested in. He has a girlfriend but he is a very smooth talker, smoother than I am. So he chats up like every girl and I can't hold a conversation with the girl I want because she just leaves and starts talking to this British guy lol. I have tried copying how he approaches girls but really the only differences between him and me are: he has a British accent; and he makes the occasional sexist comment to shock girls, and then says "oh i was just kidding." Also he shares a class with her, and I don't. He flirts with girls but just for fun, everyone knows he has a girlfriend and he's just joking around.
How do I compete with the flippin' British accent???

its not the British accent, it has nothin to do with girls likin him more. gurls willl still like him even if he dont use the british accent. its a personality thing.
and u can compete with him by bein ur self, and makin ur own personality.
u have to quit lookin down at ur self and wishin u can be like that guy at school or that guy work. make ur own U, u r own way, ur own personality, not someone elses

I wouldn't copy the accent, the moves, or the faux shocking comments. A lot of girls know that he's unavailable, having fun, and is a dead end for love or romance, but they're attracted to being flattered and entertained.
I love my bf, but if there were some cute British charmer in the room I'd go over to say hello for a few minutes.
Just be yourself and talk with the girl!

You cant and you dont. Be proud w your own accent. This guy is a sore loser & why do you want to be with this girl who like the company of a guy who has a gf already but she choose him over you cos he talks in BBC accent? All the girls in ur class sounds so immature & you got to find a hot chick who can love you for whoever you are not because of the accent.
My bf is a British but its his character and personality which makes me fall in love to him; not his accent. I wouldnt careless if he is an American, Germans, French etc..

Accent is not a barrier - approach is. I am neither British nor American, but I can adjust to either one without difficulty. HOwever that does not mean that the opposite sex will like me if I do not know how to approach them the right way.

I must say that english accent is a major turn on for a woman..
Just be yourself dont b too worried about competing with the english accent.. cos sooner or later... they will get bored with it..

I'll tell you straight out: You can't. The only thing you can do is /somehow/ when you and your crush are somewhere alone or walkign the same way that you just start talking to her. A compliment thrown in isn't bad wither. Just try to start talking ot her and make her see the real you.
