What exactly is Canine Osteosarcoma in laymens terms-what does it feel like? Is there any way I can add pictures to this of my dobermans leg to get opinions? He has a spot on his "wrist" that was diagnosed as just a lick granuloma but he has ceased licking and it continues to grow. ???

I understand that lick granuloma is not a cancer I was merely saying thats what his "lump" was diagnosed as but its still growing so I'm looking at alternative possibilities. I did some research on it but is it a hard growth of more of a fluid? I have already opted not to pursue it-he's already old for a dog his size and I'm not having him miserable from surgery in what may already be his last months or year. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to eleviate any pain-though he isn't really showing any except in the mornings. Thank you

Osteosarcoma is bone cancer. It is very painful. If it is a slow growing cancer, you can amputate your dog's leg and have more time with him. If you amputate and do chemo, you might have quite awhile, or not.

Chances are good by the time you diagnose osteosarcoma, it has already metastsized, but not always.

It is a horrible disease and I hope your dog doesn't have it.

BONE CANCER!
X-rays will show it,NOT simple visual.

Amputation,if done SOON,*may* stop the spread,IF it isn't already too late!

Lick-granuloma is VERY common in Dobes & is NOT bone cancer.
