I have 10 days not counting travel. I was thinking of flying to Ho Chi Minh City to start with for a couple days (I've been before), then head to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand... Angkor Wat, Bangkok, possibly Phnom Penh. Am I being too ambitious? What are "must sees" in these countries so I can narrrow it down?

In ten days? Pick two, maybe three places and enjoy some quality time there. Cambodia and trekking in Northern Thailand (Chang Mai) is a great experience. Wind down your final days in one of the islands off of Southern Thailand.

My God! This reminds me of the movie that came out some 25 years ago "If it's Tuesday, this must be Belgium" or something like that.

You'll be dragging and see practically nothing. But if you insist, here is my suggestion. OK on Angkor (I've never been there, but saw pictures). Bangkok's ok too. Try Macau (really liked it - still belonged to Portugal then) and Taipei. If nothing else, you'll get to see the tallest building in the world , great food and wonderful people. You could try Philippines, but all the sights are hard to get to. Closest one is the Taal volcano island (about 2 1/2 hours from Manila) with either a 3 hour boat ride around the volcano, or same length horseback ride up the volcano. these are just some of the alternatives.

Angkor Wat is a definite. You'll want 3 days to see the temples and probably another day just for logistic purposes. If you fly you could head to Luang Prabang without burning a whole lot of time in transit. With 10 days I would think you could fit in another place pretty easily - Phnom Penh, Bangkok, or maybe even some beaches from southern Thailand.

I'd head to the bookstore and browse through a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide Southeast Asia and see what piques your interest.

10 days? I'd spend them in Thailand and try to really get to know & enjoy the country. There are more than enough destinations and activities there to spend an active and memorable experience. It's the best of the pick.

GO TO VIENTIANE! GO TO VIENTIANE! I URGE YOU TO TRY LAOS!!!

IT'S THE ENIGMA OF THE FAR EAST. NOT TOO TOURISTY.

SEE HOW THEY MADE IT ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT THE HELP OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.

LAOS HAS MANY ATTRACTIONS TO OFFER. PLACES THAT THE AMERICANS BOMBED IN THE 70'S (MORE BOMBS THAN VIETNAM) BUT THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD TURNED THEIR BACKS ON.

TRY TO SQUEEZE IN VIENTIANE ON YOUR TRIP. IT'S AMAZING TO SEE HOW THEY MADE IT UP TO THEIR FEET!
