I've had 4 permanent teeth, and 4 wisdom teeth all removed. I have a very small mouth, and before I could get braces, I had to have 4 permanent back teeth removed. I was about 12 when they did that. It was horrible. The dentist was horrible, and I was scared, and I cried. She had to cut gums, break teeth, it wasn't pretty. Then when I was in college, I had my wisdom teeth taken out. Again, I was scared; and I cried from the time I left my house until I got home after the surgery. Yes, that includes during the surgery when I was under anesthetic. The dentist told my mom tears just streamed down my face the whole time. I couldn't feel anything, so I guess it was nerves. I don't remember any major swelling, but I wouldn't have 8 done at once. Good luck!

I would have them all out at the same time. The amount of time you'll be sore after is about the same either way, so why go through all that twice? When I was 12 I had 3 teeth pulled twice. Then I had 15 out all at once when I was almost 15. I was pretty sore for the first 4-5 days, but not really that bad after about 2-3 days. I just didn't smile a lot after that for a while. If I had to do it again I'd do the same thing tho.

Ok here are my two cents .... , the healing time for either 4 or 8 removed teeth is the same time . The pain meds whether u take 4 or 8 out is the same u will be medicated. I would rather be in discomfort for 3 or 4 days. rather 3 or 4 days times 2. It also depends of the type of extraction, whether they take long and what not .. Hope this helps,

Well just get the all 8 under anistesia beacuse you wont have to endure the pain twice thats what my dentist suggested!

Be sure to take a few days off after you get them extracted because its kind of annoying and you should use those days to get used to eating and dealing with the extra space - It will fell very weird at first but you will get used to it and have a happy trip to the dentist and all the best luck to you!

man, i think the only way I can relate is when i went in one day for maybe 6 hours... 4 wisdom teeth, 2 canine extractions (baby teeth tho cuz my perm's were stuck in my gums) 2 root canals and 2 fillings... the root canals were the worst, wisdom teeth were surprisingly easy and all i had was some valium, except one of em which the root put pressure on a couple teeth before it and the dentist almost lifted me out of the chair, strong dude, but i caught him with an elbow for it.. dont elbow ur dentist tho, at least wait until he is done with you. mine happened to be a family friend sod it was all good and i got all that work done at the low cost of $0.00

I would rather get them all out at one time. This way they can heal at the same time without going through it a second time.
You may have some discomfort but the dentist will give you pain med to take. Follow his instructions and all will be fine. I would also rather have it done by IV sedation.

Yes I have had a total of 10 teeth removed....and it sucks but it doesn't hurt. The thing is .....i'm only 16yrs old!!!! You won't get swelling but I would suggest getting 2 removed at a time or else you'll be left with no teeth!!!!

Unfortunately yes! Had laughing gas to ease the "nervousness". No major swelling but some pain and discomfort (your dentist will prescribe you something before you go home), above all..don't smoke!! It can cause dry socket which is Horribly painful!!

i think you should get 4 or maybe 3 or 2 depending if they're on the top or bottom and what side!!you wanna limit it to one side so you can chew on the other side!!this is coming from a girl that has had 18 teeth pulled!!the most i've had pulled at a time was four!!when i got mine pulled it didnt really swell it was just numb from the numbing that they do before they pull them!!it does feel weird to have a lot missing at one time so try and spread them out!!

Been there, done that, I would say do the 4 and the other 4 next time. it hurt like hell, but it didnt last to long, they give you some really good pain pills.
