Contact your Congressman?
Their office may be able to outline some options for you.

I'm anti-illegal immigration and I don't appreciate the guy here who referred to us as "stupid." I gave you a thumbs up for your question because I am happy that your husband is in Mexico trying to do things legally in respect to entering the USA. I applaud you both! I am, however, sorry for your situation. It has not been all that long, though, considering what I have heard from others about the time it takes - only just over 5 months, yet, in your case. Maybe you could try what some have suggested here and call the embassy and ask if there is any way to speed up things on compassionate basis. Do you have a child or children who may require his care while you are in hospital? Maybe get your doctor to write a letter to this effect. Good luck! I hope he makes it back legally before your surgery. If not, hopefully, you have family and friends who can help you through your surgery and rehabilitation. If you think about it, though, this may not be considered such an "emergency" in the scheme of things. Imagine the soldiers who are away in Iraq or Afghanistan while their wives give birth or have a surgery - I don't imagine they get any special consideration in these siguations. Just think how good it will be once he gets here legally and you will not have to worry about this again.

I am not quite sure on how to help you here, but I suggest you contact an immigration lawyer and ask him what can be done. By the way, if you wonder why you get so many thumbs down, it's only because your husband is Mexican. The stupid antis would not do this if it was someone from Europe or Asia, and then they have the nerve to claim "it's not racism."

Expediting an immigration case seems to be next to impossible. You may want to ask your question on visajourney.com, and search the archives for information on visa timelines from Mexico.

All the best.

Why can't you have surgery in Mexico, and your husband can be there to care for you????
