Try oatmeal for breakfast a large canister usually cost a couple a bucks and some change at walmart. Oatmeal is great for lowering cholesterol. When not drinking water try drinking cranberry juice it also lowers cholesterol. Try to eat lean meats like baked fish and chicken for dinner and maybe some tuna are chicken salad for lunch.

I love those commercials. Everybody jumping around for joy because their cholesterol dropped 5 points. My cholesterol was really high (above 300), and 5 points wasn't going to put a dent in the damage I had done. I decided to make the "drastic" decision to stop eating meat. After only two months as a vegetarian, my cholesterol had dropped more than 80 points... I didn't eat any oatmeal. Fiber can help lower your cholesterol, but if you eat a burger at lunch you will undo that effect. To really get your cholesterol numbers down, you have to stop eating cholesterol.

Buckwheat greatly lowers cholesterol and promotes heart health and has other benefits as well check out http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=11

I think there is some recipes on there if not, I found out that if I google there are lots of recipes for buckwheat. I just cook it like rice (rinse it first too) and eat it simply like that. However some people like it fancy like in pancakes or something lol.

This is the simple recipe:
Sort out the buckwheat, rinse like rice, then pour in water, close by a cover and boil over high heat. When it starts to boil, reduce the heat twice and keep boiling for 10 minutes until the buckwheat is getting thick, then turn down the heat again and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until the water completely evaporates. Take the buckwheat from the heat and put under a warm cloth for 15 minutes. Put about less than half a stick of butter into the buckwheat. Salt if wanted. Eat with salad or put a favorite sauce on top (I love my mushroom sauce). If you want it sweet, pour some milk and eat like cereal. (if you want try adding sugar too I never tried though).

Any whole grain food will help. Whole grain cereals and breads help move cholesterol out of the body. Popcorn is a whole grain. Seeds or legumes (beans) help too.

I make a delicious meatloaf using ground turkey instead of beef. It includes tofu or soy protein, a little ground flax seed, bread crumbs for a binder, ground oatmeal, and cholesterol-free egg substitutes like Egg Beaters.

Use buckwheat instead of rice or noodles in any dish. Buckwheat is not really wheat. It is a seed. I acts like a whole grain to remove cholesterol through digestion and elimination of wastes. It is loaded with magnesium so it reduces blood pressure naturally and keeps the artery walls elastic and healthy.
It tastes delicious with a pleasant nutty flavor. Buckwheat also aids in digestion and assimilation of vitamins and minerals.

Reduce red meat intake. Stop the steaks and hamburgers. Eat oily fish like salmon, sardines and tuna. They are loaded with Omega 3 and 6's which reduce cholesterol and have many other benefits. Salmon oil is available at health food stores. Stay away from other fish oils like cod liver oil. They can be harmful.

Garlic removes fat and cholesterol from the blood.
Let the garlic "breath" after crushing and before adding it to food. The air changes it and increases it's medicinal properties.
Fresh garlic is great, but if you don't like the taste and odor, there are odorless supplements available at health food stores, but they are a little pricey.

Use olive oil instead of margarine or another oil or grease for cooking. Olive oil increases your good cholesterol while reducing the bad. A "Light" olive oil does not have the strong fruity taste of virgin olive oil and is better for some recipes.
Don't use any margarines or butter. If you like bread and butter, there are healthy spreads available that have no trans fat.

A good multi vitamin will help too. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Whole grain breads and 0 trans fats are a must.
A little exercise like walking 30 minutes a day works wonders.

All these things are inexpensive and healthy. Reducing cholesterol might require a lifestyle change, but it is worth it.

My husband has successfully reduced his high cholesterol to within normally accepted limits by doing these simple things. It has also reduced his high blood pressure to normal. He is 54 years old, feels great and has more energy. He looks healthier and sexier too.

The FDA has recently approved the use of Omega 3 fatty acids to lower high cholesterol. You can pick up this supplement at any local pharmacy for under $10 and they should last you for awhile.

Oatmeal,Cheerios (generic brand...I believe it's called tastiO's). You may also consider some fresh fruits like strawberry, bananas, oranges and grapes.
I also like to make ramen noodles with the seasoning. Then I'll bake some chicken and have it over the bed of noodles. For veggies, I like to buy the frozen stuff because it's less expensive. Boil brocolli, green beans or carrots.Fry them over a little bit of butter and throw in some maple syrup or honey and nutmeg. I sometimes have some tortilla in place of some pita bread. I'll stir fry some veggies(green peppers, onions, tomatoes) over little butter.Toss them in the tortilla, add some salt and pepper with ranch dressing. Throw the tomatoes in last.
