I assume that you are buying these tires from a tire dealer and rims too? Cause these tires won't fit the stock rims A tire dealer can look it up and see what tire width the car can handle without rubbing the inside of the fender. After you have these installed ask the tire store salesman if the tire heighth on the new rims is the same as the stock tires were on the old ones. Roll them up side by side to see any differance in heighth. The reason I say this is because a shorter or taller heighth tire will throw the speedometer off by a few miles an hour and a trip to the speedometer shop may be neccasary so as no to get a speeding ticket cause your speedo is off calibration. Hope all this helps you.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 4 Door Sedan

Stock Size:
205/70R15

Plus Sizes:
PLUS1: 225/60R16
PLUS2: 225/55R17
PLUS2: 245/50R17
PLUS3: 245/45R18

If this size chart is right, your 40 series tire will be too short.
