It depends on the trauma. Some traumas follow you wherever you move. If it is the sights of the area that you live in that keep reminding you of your mother's passing, then it might help to move, but you might just need more time. A year is not a long time to get over the death of someone you love, especially if you had no warning. I am sorry about your loss - I know you are hurting. Is there a grief support group you could attend?

You don't say whether or not you're an adult, or live on your own, or if you're a child... living with your dad or other family members.

If you're an adult, then take your time to make this decision. A year isn't all that long when you're talking about grief.

If you're a child, then you need to spend some time talking to the adults in your world. If your family can't help you deal with the sadness you're feeling, then try talking to the principal or one of the counselors at your school, or someone in your church. Someone out there will help you.

It depends on what kind of a person you are. The people that live across the street from us have lived there for 40 years, even though one of their children drowned in the canal right behind their house. I think staying there is their way of staying connected to her. It's all about what makes your life easier to bear.
