I am thinking of emigrating to the Republic where my Mother originated from. My parents were both cremated.

If no other family members would object it should be fine for a price. You should check with the funeral home that was used for the funeral. I am sure they can advise you about how to go about this. It should be easier then most since you would be dealing with urn transfers not coffins. Best wishes, I think this is very thoughtful of you.

As long as the cremated remains were placed in a sealed container prior to burial, there should be no problem, other than the bureaucratic form-filing requirements. Check with the Irish consulate and then the American cemetery's requirements for exhumation.

If they were creamated, why would they need to be exhumed? Did you bury the ashes? I think I have heard of it being done but takes quite a bit of money and paper work and legitimate reasons to a judge before any exhumation can occur.

I am sorry to hear of your loss but if they were cremated, how can you have them exhumed?

The Republic is God's Own Country - wise decision!

Only way to know is to contact the company that had their remains placed for you and see what they have as options if any.

i don't really see how its possible if they were cremated
unless the ashes were buried in some kind of container
what ever you decide to do just remember them.
the great thing about memories is you can take them everywhere.
best of luck
